Rough Seas and New Horizons
Ahoy! Today we find ourselves navigating some seriously rough seas as we journey south along the Outer Banks, heading towards Charleston, South Carolina. Just a few days ago, though, we were soaking up the stunning sights of the Magdalen Islands, a hidden gem in Canada's maritime region.
Captivated by the Magdalen Islands
Imagine this: breathtaking red sand cliffs, bordered by crystal clear waters, and the breathtaking vistas stretching endlessly for miles. The Magdalen Islands truly take your breath away! We spent our day beach combing and exploring hidden coves. If you've never been to this part of Quebec then we highly recommend this local for a spectacular summer get away.
A Journey through Nova Scotia
The adventure didn't stop there. We then sailed into beautiful Nova Scotia. Our first stop was at Cape Breton, where we ventured into the rich history embedded within The Fortress of Louisburg, established back in 1769. Kayaking along the coast offered us a unique perspective of the historic sites and the natural beauty surrounding us.
From there se headed south to Lunenburg, a picturesque seaside town of stunningly colourful buildings. After an glorious morning paddle, Calum met up with some old university friends while I welcomed my Halifax friends aboard the Octantis. Catching up over shared cocktails and laughter was a highlight, especially with the backdrop of spectacular weather that day.
Saying Good Bye to Canada
Next, we set our sails toward Norfolk, Virginia, home to the world’s largest naval base. We were well entertained during these two days at sea with multiple visits from Fin & Minke Whales and a massive pod of Common Dolphins. Those of us doing the world cruise were invited to a fantastic luncheon and to our surprise, the crew had organized a graduation celebration for the youngest passenger aboard!
Thanks again for following our adventure and we will be sure to update you again next week from Caribbean as we approach our transition through the Panama Canal!
